A temporary assignment

More often than not,  when you attempt  to do something you never tried before, you may find yourself going in multiple directions on several tangents.

Thinning  out resources.  Expending precious energy and time.

Thinking about it, instead of just listening, letting go and “doing it”.

So I stopped pressing and finally just listened.

Made some decisions.

To consolidate effort, refocus and eliminate distraction.

And I wound up right back here.  To my first one.

In his book, “The Purpose Driven Life”, author Rick Warren aptly points out that life is a temporary assignment.

In the grand scheme of things, it is but a short stay.  A predetermined span of time that is  intended to help us learn how  lay the foundation for a better, everlasting life.

So in a sense, we are contractors.

And we are on the clock.

With only so much time in the here and the now to do what is right, what is best and what we are called to do with great love.

A relatively simple  task if you think about it.

Until we let ourselves get in the way.

And make things more difficult than they need to be.

But He is patient.  Forgiving.  And above all, unconditionally loving.

So  if we can muster the courage  to listen, let go and follow His guidance, we will be better suited to embrace the challenges, follow through and make the most of this.

A temporary assignment.
